PALLET

Ive always been fascinated by what can be done when reusing a pallet. I started today with sending one of them that i got ages ago from a friend and I must admit that it is not as easy as it sounds… I would like to make a little table for my living-room out of it. So stay tuned and ill be posting pictures when done!!

but here some ideas id love to fullfil that i took from Pinterest

SPLASH

One of my favourite movies of all times is “The Big Lebowski” and in this movie there is the scene of Maude  flying from the ceiling simply splashing a lot of colours on a huge canvans. What a dream!! Ive always wanted to try something like that, it must be so much fun!! I’m not Maude, but in my little world I simply had to try to feel a bit like Maude and Pollock combined!

I was 7 months pregnant with Vincent and felt very emotional. Then was when i took an old canvans given to me by the same lady as the previous post and started throwing paint/feelings onto it!

MI VIDA LOCA

Sometimes I find my self with a brush in my hand and the urge to paint. I am definately not good at it, but art is not always beautiful, is it? 😛

A few years ago a very nice lady gave me an old canvas as a present. You might wonder, why an “old” canvas!? Well, I love a bit of texture and put some colour on an old painting is just what I did here. And how cool is it to give a new life to an old piece that might have end up in the bin?

FLYGVAPENMUSEUM

Linköping is known in Sweden for its University, its great hospital and airplane Saab! Two little airplanes are the first thing you actually see driving into town. They even have a museum about war planes and history. And thats where i took Vincent today with some  friends. It was actually really interesting and cool, expecially because they have a big kids-section where they can play and esperiment!

Here the link: http://www.flygvapenmuseum.se/

Im not a big motor fan, but i do love taking picture and it was quite a fun place to play with the camera, so here it goes…

TULIPS

I was walking around town yesterday and I saw some shop window signs advertising spring: “Spring is here!” I found it very amusing since we still have a meter of snow, it is a couple of degree plus zero if the sun is out, no sign of green anywhere and my feet are as cold and wet as five months ago!

Well, a couple of friends came visiting today and brought me a bouquet of tulips… that really made my spring!! So with a smile on my face a enjoyed playing with my camera!!

LEMON BUTTER BISCUITS

One of my favourite chefs is Jamie Oliver. Maybe I love him because he really likes Italy, maybe because of his accent or maybe because i find him quite attractive, but I definately love the simplicity of his cooking. Wandering around Pinterest I found one of his recipes and i decided to give it a go, even if i never really baked any buscuits before. I must admit that my son and I had a blast!!

Here is the recipes

PAPER SPRING

Here in Sweden I work as a mothertongue teacher for children. Every child that has a foreign parent or both, has the right to have their mother language lessons from the age of one at kindergarten. (Sweden does have some up sides!!!). I call them all “My” children and for the first time Id like to share with you a very exciting lesson I had today with some girls from 8 to 10 years old.

I wanted to talk about the four seasons and because it has been two very sunny and beautiful days, with a tiny little feeling of spring, I chose to do some hancraft flowers with them. First we read the instructions together which gave me the opportunity to do a bit of grammar as well and then we started working! It was a success!! We talked all the time sharing ideas and short stories about ourselves and even though it doesnt look as much, I am pretty sure that those girls went home today a bit richer (or at least I like to believe so!)

I only meet the kids once a week and in elementary school I try too often to concentrate on the pure language with grammat and exercises, so it is very nice from time to time to sit back and enjoy a fun hour with them!!

STOCKHOLM

When I first moved to Sweden I had heard how beautiful Stockholm was, built on different islands, old buildings, bridges and the feeling of a cosmopolitan city. They described it to me as “The Venice of the north”. Let me first remind you that I come from Italy and Venice is by far one of my favourite cities in the world. I love it for its buildings, history, the Canal but most of all for its people and life style. I have lots of wonderful memories from the place.

So when I headed to the swedish capital I was full of expectations and Im afraid I cant hide my big disappointment. I guess it is hard to compare and beat something that it is so deep in your heart.

I went back to Stockholm another time to visit a friend and she took me to some hidden places and showed me the night-life. I came home wondering if I had missed something the first time, but still not convinced. On my third visit I realized something basic: it’s just wrong to compare it to Venice because the only thing they have in common is that they are both build on islands (and in a very different way). So here I was: when I stopped comparing it and looked at it for what it actually is, I started to understand it and it slowly warmed up my heart.

Ive now been there several times and I cant get enough of it. This weekend just gone I went to visit a friend. We went to restaurants, bars, clubs, churches, museums and let me tell you: Stockhom rocks!! Yesterday was such a sunny day that made you forget how cold it was. We walked a bit up the hill and had the whole city at our feet: breathtaking!

I was only there for 24 hrs so i didnt take my camera with me (silly me!!!), so all i have is some shots taken with my crappy phone and instagram… hope you enjoy anyways!

Let the journey begin

Let the journey begin

Planes have given us a wonderful, easier and cheaper opportunity to travel the globe, but I still appreciate and love a train journey: looking outside the window everything going so fast. Listening to good music while reading your favourite book: priceless!!

SUNFLOWER #2

This is a sunflower painted by a friend of mine called Gary. He was a friend of us when I lived in London, a character hard to forget! He slept on our couch for a while and I remember one evening we painted all together on a big canvas; but the morning after the painting was totally different and he just said: “It wasnt right” and spend all night painting again. Sometimes in life you meet people just for a short time, but somehow they find a place in your heart and get stuck there. Well, I have his painting that was commisioned just for me and I am so proud to have it hung in my living-room…
