LEAVES

I know that my previous post was about snow and winter, but before that we obviously had autumn. It is an amazing season in a country where more than half its surface is covered in trees. The colours around are just breathtaking! The people start lighting candles in their homes and there is a feeling of bitter sweet melancholy in the air.

… and what a better time to spend an afternoon with your son? We first went to a park where we took lots of pictures playing with the leaves…

…and then we decided to collect them and make a art piece once at home. Vincent is very proud of it!

SNOW

Here we go! After a mild November the news have been telling us that a low pressior was coming from Russia… they have never been more right. The snow has arrived and I have mixed feelings about it. It is beautiful and it does make everything look brighter (this is why the sweds love it!) but it doesnt make the daily life easier, I can promise you that. So walking around today trying to enjoy the new event (and to not complain about it), I tried to capture the beuty of it. With a little help from Instagram, this is the first snow of winter 2012 in Linköping…

THE TREE CABINET

Here in Sweden they have this amazing place called Återvinningen which i will talk in more details in the near future. Here you can find almost anything! A few months ago i saw this cabinet in a far corner, placed inbetween very tall pieces of fornitures. It just didnt belong there and it was very shy. It caught my eye straightaway and after looking around the shop with a friend for about  an hour, i just couldnt leave without it. I already had an idea of what I could have done with it, it was perfect to paint on something I had seen on the web earlier and i must admit that I am very proud of the result!!

Unfotunately i didnt take a picture of how it originally looked like, but you can get an idea from the picture “in the making”:

work in progress

I taped the shape of the tree so to leave the original wood as the actual tree and I handpainted the sorroundings.

After taking the tape away… voilà!!

the inside

I decided to keep the inside with its original wood because it is really nice and it adds authenticity to the cabinet.

I hope you love it as much as i do!!
